Freelance Artist Syful Islam introduced Islamic Calligraphy Painting in the field of fine art and made it popular very widely through Government’s co-operations in Bangladesh. His 1st Calligraphy painting exhibition was held in the National Assembly building in 1983 on the occasion of 1st O.I.C conference in Bangladesh. The 2nd exhibition was organized by the artist himself in the Dhaka Sheraton Hotel in 1994, 3rd solo calligraphy painting display took place at the Islamic Foundation. He received Gold Medal as best Calligrapher in the year 1995 from “Jatio Shahito Sanghad’ through the hand of National Professor Dewan Mohd. Azraf. Syful’s Islamic Calligraphy has tremendous artistic appeal and depth of compositions. Syful did metallic Calligraphy for the office of the President of the Govt. of Bangladesh, and also for the Prime Minister cabinet hall. Wooden calligraphy for the Garrision central Mosque of Dhaka Cantonment, Savar and Jessore cantonment and also calligraphy paintings ion different high offices and private organizations. Syful Islam also introduced Bengali Calligraphy painting in 1990. His Bengali Calligraphic art works are also same bold and artistic compositions as his Islamic Calligraphy. National Professor Kabir Chowdhury expressed his heartiest congratulations for creating Bengali Calligraphy painting as a new dimension of artwork in Bangladesh. In the field of fine art Syful’s influences holding same boldness in the most of the important sectors like classic still life works. Realistic landscape works, Modern Composition and Classic Portraits. Syful did several solo general painting exhibitions both in country and abroad. He visited Kualalumpur in 1974 and went to Moscow USSR in 1975 for higher education in fine art by the fellowships of USSR Govt. granted as special fellowship of Bangabandu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. As an Islamic Calligrapher, Syful got an invitation from the Govt. of the ran to attend their Int’ Quran-e-Karim Exhibition in Tehran in 2004. As a Govt. delegation Syful Islam honored to perform Hajj in Jan, 2006 and 2nd time performed Hajj in Nov. 2011.
